Nuit très calme et obscure, pas une lumière dans le port ici à Kato Katelios. Jens va avec le
zodiac sonder la profondeur du port avec son bambou de 2 m. C’est bien ensablé
presque partout, 1m-1,50 m pas assez pour Hera II qui doit avoir 1,65 m (quand
elle est vide, alors un peu plus quand elle est chargée). Il repère bien ce qui
lui semble le plus profond et revient au bateau. Les pêcheurs nous ont tous dit
(ou montrer) qu’il faut passer près de la digue de gauche. Nous partons à 10 h
10, un peu anxieux, pourvu que l’on ne reste pas coincé sur un haut-fond de
sable. Nous passons, en « effleurant » le fond seulement deux fois.
Ouf ! Nous mettons le cap vers l’ouest, nous pensons aller à Lixouri. Peu
de vent mais un reste de houle d’ouest, Hera II monte et descend, mais c’est
acceptable. Nous passons près de l’aéroport d’Argostoli et voyons un avion
atterrir. Nous rentrons dans le fjord entre Lixouri et Argostoli, c’est tout
calme, la houle n’y rentre pas. Nous ancrons, nous baignons et déjeunons puis
repartons. Nous entrons dans le port de Lixouri à 16 h. Le grand quai est vide
et nous pouvons nous mettre en long. Jus d’orange frais comme ankerdram et
repos au bateau, à l’ombre. Je fais le blog et vers 18 h nous allons en vélo au
sud de Lixouri à la jolie plage de Lepedha où nous nous baignons. La route, à
peu près de 3 km, est agréable et bordée de pleins de fleurs. Nous allons diner
en ville près de la rivière presqu’asséchée mais où il doit avoir assez d’eau
pour une colonie de grenouilles qui font un ramdam incroyable. Nous croisons la place principale en rentrant,
tout le monde est dehors, des grands-parents aux bébés en passant par les
enfants qui font du vélo ou jouent au football … et il est 22 h !

Very calm and dark night, not a light in Kato Katelios port.
Jens goes with the zodiac to sound the depth of the port with his 2 m bamboo.
It is silted up almost everywhere, 1m-1.50m not enough for Hera II which must
have 1.65m (when she is empty, then a little more when she is loaded). He
locates well what seems to him the deepest and returns to the boat. The
fishermen have all told us (or shown) that we have to pass near the left dyke.
We leave at 10:10 a.m., a little anxious, what if we get get stuck on a sandy
shoal? We pass, "touching" lightly the bottom only twice. Phew! We
are motoring heading west, we are thinking of going to Lixouri. Little wind but
a rest of westerly swell, Hera II goes up and down, but it is acceptable. We
pass near Argostoli airport and see a plane landing. We enter the fjord between
Lixouri and Argostoli, it's very calm, the swell does not enter. We anchor,
swim and have lunch here then leave. We enter the port of Lixouri at 4 p.m. The
large quay is empty and we can get alongside. Fresh orange juice on the quay as
ankerdram and rest on the boat, in the shade. I do the blog and around 6 p.m.
we ride south of Lixouri to the pretty beach of Lepedha where we swim. The
road, about 3 km long, is pleasant and lined with lots of flowers. We are going
to have dinner in town near the almost dry river but where there must be enough
water for a colony of frogs which are making an incredible fuss. We pass the
main square on our way back, everyone is outside, from grandparents to babies,
including children riding bikes or playing football… and it's 10 p.m.!
