Nous finissons les bagages et chargeons tout sur les vélos : deux sacs à dos, plus un petit sac à dos plus un sac de linge sale que Ionian marina va laver (draps, serviettes …). Mais nous n’allons pas loin, de la marina de Preveza au parking où est la voiture, peut-être 100 m. Tout va dans la voiture, les mêmes bagages plus les vélos pliés. Nous passons la ville, le tunnel et arrivons à Ionian marina. Ils gardent les vélos et vont laver le linge, OK. Et nous continuons notre route vers Athènes, route nationale d’abord, puis autoroute, grand pont vers la Péloponnèse, autoroute au nord du Péloponnèse, traversée du canal de Corinthe et là , pour le voir, nous sortons de l’autoroute, nous stationnons la voiture et allons à pied sur un pont au dessus du canal. Quelle prouesse d’avoir construit ce canal si profond dans la montagne. Il est fermé en ce moment à cause d’éboulis qui le bouchent. Et nous arrivons peu après à Athènes après quelques embouteillages. Le GPS nous amène droit à l’institut où Jens va travailler quelques heures demain et où nous pouvons stationner gratuitement, chose appréciable au centre d’Athènes. Nous marchons 10 mn et arrivons à l’hôtel. Il fait une chaleur ! 34 ⁰. Une douche, la première depuis longtemps, nous semble bonne. Blog pour moi, travail de mise à jour des documents d’Hera II pour Jens et à 19 h 30, nous partons à pied vers l’institut. Nous avons rendez-vous avec Vaso et Clairy, deux anciennes étudiantes de Jens à Bergen en 1997-98, je crois. Retrouvailles sympathique après 25 ans. Nous allons diner ensemble et nous sommes sept : Vaso et son mari, John de Nouvelle-Zélande, une nièce de John en visite de Londres, Clairy et son mari Jannis et nous deux. Le restaurant est agréable installé dans un jardin. Vaso et Clairy avaient 21 ans, c’était leur premier voyage à l’étranger et elles s’en souviennent comme d’une période très heureuse de leur vie. Elles nous racontent qu’elles avaient manqué des classes pour aller à Molde. C’est qu’il y avait un match de football d’une équipe grecque contre l’équipe de Molde ! Un journaliste grec avait fait des photos qui ont été publiées en Grèce et où on les voyait. Repas très sympathique. Nous les invitons bien sûr à revenir en Norvège nous visiter.

We finish the luggage and load everything on the bikes: two backpacks, plus a small backpack plus a bag of dirty laundry that Ionian marina will wash (sheets, towels, etc.). But we don't go far, from the marina of Preveza to the parking lot where the car is, maybe 100 m. Everything goes in the car, the same luggage plus the folded bikes. We pass the city, the tunnel and arrive at Ionian Marina. They keep the bikes and will do the laundry, OK. And we continue our route to Athens, national road first, then highway, large bridge to the Peloponnese, highway north of the Peloponnese, crossing the Corinth canal and there, to see it, we leave the highway, we park the car and walk to a bridge over the canal. What a feat to have built this channel so deep in the mountain. It is currently closed due to rockslide blocking it. And we arrive shortly after in Athens after some traffic jams. The GPS takes us straight to the institute where Jens will work for a few hours tomorrow and where we can park for free, which is a nice thing in the center of Athens. We walk 10 minutes and arrive at the hotel. It's hot! 34⁰. A shower, the first for a long time, seems good. Blog for me, work updating Hera II documents for Jens and at 7:30 p.m. we walk to the institute. We have an appointment with Vaso and Clairy, two former students of Jens in Bergen in 1997-98, I believe. Nice reunion after 25 years. We are going to dinner together and there are seven of us: Vaso and her husband, John from New Zealand, John's niece visiting from London, Clairy and her husband Jannis and the two of us. The restaurant is pleasant, set in a garden. Vaso and Clairy were 21, it was their first trip abroad and they remember it as a very happy time in their lives. They tell us that they had missed classes to go to Molde because there was a football match of a Greek team against the team of Molde! A Greek journalist had taken photos which were published in Greece and where they were seen. Very nice meal and evening. We, of course, invite them to come back to Norway to visit us.
