Saturday 28.05.2022
Still calm, a bit foggy this morning. We are out of
bread so we eat crackers for breakfast. Jens is still working a bit: there's a
hole under the stairs between the living room and the engine room, he's been
thinking about closing it for a long time because it makes noise in the living
room. He found a board on the beach that will do, so he does that. I classify
my photos. We leave at 10:30 am after swimming. We will surely return to this
pretty bay where we were alone. We go directly to Ormos Varkó, the bay where we
were the first night. We can see from afar the triangular cultivated field
surrounded by bushes. We also see as we approach that the loneliness is over,
there are at least 20 boats anchored. A little before Ormos Varkó, we pass near
a small island, a bird island, but a rich man has probably bought it and two
trucks and a crane are at work to build a house. I don’t like it. Arrived at
the bay, we anchor, bathe and have lunch of cold spaghetti and crackers with
tuna. Then it's back to Preveza, the Lefkas Canal, the Santa Maura Swing Bridge
and the Preveza Canal. We stop at the gigantic marina of Lefkas to fill up with
diesel and water. On the Lefkas Canal we are two boats going north and we see
at least fifty going south. And we are only in May! What must it be like in summer?
We were supposed to go to the Preveza quay and pass Hera II to the next one,
but this gentleman is sick and doesn’t come. So Hera II will stay in port for
two weeks and she will be safer in the marina than at the quay in town which is
not so well protected against bad weather. We arrive at the marina around 6
p.m. and a mariner comes to help us put on the pontoon. Ankerdram, some tidying
up then we go to dinner in town at our favorite taverna. We go through the
parking lot to see if “our” car is still there, and yes, no problem. Good
welcome and good dinner at the taverna: tomato salad and grilled sea-bass. Lots
of people on the quay, it's Saturday night. The photos do not show the noise,
it is noisy between people talking, music from cafes and children playing. And
tonight, even more than usual: Preveza is hosting a jazz festival. The band
playing tonight is from the Netherlands and the soloist has a beautiful voice. We stay a bit and go to bed. I forgot tosay that it has been very hot today, 34 degrees.
PS I put many pictures because I am writing on sunday and it's raining so I have a lot of time.
